My Air Fryer Hates Me

Air fryers are a fantastic addition to any kitchen in the UK, offering a convenient and healthy way to cook your food while also saving you money.

One of the main benefits of using an air fryer is that it allows you to cook your food using little or no oil. This means that you can enjoy all of your favourite fried foods without the added fat and calories. This can be especially beneficial for those who are trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy lifestyle. Plus it’s perfect for me , as my readers know I love to save money.

Another great advantage of air fryers is that they are very energy efficient. They use less energy than traditional ovens, which means that you can save money on your electricity bill. This is especially helpful for those who are on a tight budget and looking for ways to cut costs, such as me and my fam.

Another great advantage of air fryers is that they are very easy to use. Simply add your food to the basket, set the temperature and timer, and let the air fryer do the rest. This means that you can prepare delicious meals with minimal effort, which is perfect for busy mums.

My air fryer is a bit overrated though.

Yes you read that that… 🙁

Are air fryers a bit overrated?

Air fryers have become increasingly popular in recent years as a healthier alternative to deep frying. But as with any kitchen appliance, there are certain disadvantages to using an air fryer.

One major disadvantage of air fryers is their size. These appliances can take up a lot of counter space, which can be a problem for those with limited kitchen space. Additionally, air fryers can be quite heavy and bulky, making them difficult to store when not in use.

Another disadvantage of air fryers is that they can be quite expensive – and are quite hard to find if they’re out of stock. It took me a long time to get hold of my Ninja Foodi AF400UK after I found it at StockBot – it was out of stock at all the big stores ALL THE TIME. In the end I found it at John Lewis for £139.99 thanks to StockBot.

Which brings me onto my next point…

Air fryer prices have gone crazy

While some models are priced reasonably, others can cost hundreds of pounds. This may not be a feasible option for those on a tight budget.

Air fryers also have a smaller capacity compared to traditional deep fryers. This means that you may have to fry food in batches, which can be time-consuming and tedious.

I hate cleaning my air fryer. There, I said it.

One of the biggest disadvantages of air fryers is that they may not produce the same taste and texture as deep-fried food. This is because air fryers rely on hot air to cook food, whereas deep fryers use hot oil. As a result, some people find that food cooked in an air fryer is not as crispy or flavorful as food cooked in a deep fryer.

Lastly, cleaning an air fryer can be a hassle. The basket and tray need to be cleaned after each use, and the appliance itself needs to be wiped down regularly to prevent buildup of food particles.

Plus, if you clean it too much then the paint starts to come away. I wash mine in my dishwasher.

Thankfully, IFixIt have a guide to fixing this particular issue.

In conclusion, while air fryers can be a healthier alternative to deep frying, they also have their own set of disadvantages such as their size, cost, capacity, taste, and cleaning process. It’s important to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision on whether an air fryer is right for you and your kitchen.
